Art is about you
What is the purpose of Art? Why does Art matter to you?
Art should not be measured by trends, popularity, or material value. True art isn't about objects, masterpieces, or even the artist himself. I find these concepts to be distractions from the only thing that truly matters: you.
Art should be about you: your perspective on life, your feelings about being alive, the balance of harmony and chaos that you perceive.
A true artist isn't someone who sells their work for millions but someone who can infect you with curiosity, infuse you with their ability to find harmony within chaos, and encourage you to venture beyond your established beliefs.
Art isn’t there to impress with technical skill but to remind you of the sacredness of existence. It should inspire you to develop your unique view of the world so that you can engage with life from a broader, more authentic perspective and become an artist of your own reality.
Artists shouldn’t be praised or idealized, as we often do nowadays. They should be regarded as friends, guides, door openers. They add nothing to our gaze; they only shed light on the treasures we already have within us. They may speak many languages and use different techniques, but ultimately, only the message matters. The message stands beyond the means of communication and it is always about you, addressed to you from heart to heart. It’s a mirror that helps you look deeper within and find what’s of true value inside you.
A true artist is there to shake you out of your sleep, to awaken you to that formless capacity within you—the space that can contains every form, that space of pure receptivity, pure openness and pure creativity that lies at the heart of each one of us.
